Binder Lift
Lifting patients is often the most challenging and dangerous job function for emergency medical providers. The Binder Lift changes this by attaching up to 32 handles to the patient’s torso so providers can effectively team lift, use better ergonomics, and avoid causing harm or discomfort to the patient.
Providers are often forced to use improvised lifting techniques without the Binder Lift, leading to an industry-wide lifting-related injury rate 21x greater than any other industry. When the Binder Lift is readily available on every call, providers will avoid lifting-related injuries, easily lift patients of any size in even the most difficult situations, and provide better patient care. Field trial the Binder Lift today to discover how you can lift patients of any size — SAFELY and EASILY

Frequently asked Questions
Let's be real, you don’t. Emergency care providers have been MacGyvering patient lifts since the days of hearses doubling as ambulances. But, let's not settle for the same old tricks that lead to chronic back pain. Sure, you could stick to lifting patients with sheets and soft stretchers, but that's like trying to win a race on a tricycle. It's time to upgrade to the Binder Lift, a proven tool that helps you lift patients safely and with proper ergonomics. We've come a long way from using hearses to transport patients, so let's evolve from lifting them with makeshift tools.
Patients are known to round down when giving their weight (we're all probably a little guilty of this), so more often than not you don't know how heavy your patient actually is. So instead of giving a weight capacity for the Binder Lift, which does little good if you don't accurately know the patient's weight, we make it simple by guaranteeing that it is capable of helping you lift any patient that you can properly attach it to. A patient will be too wide, thus preventing you from properly attaching the Binder Lift, far before they'll be too heavy.
The Standard size has a 34" to 62" circumference, which typically fits a 100 to 350 pound patient.
The Bariatric size has a 58" to 82" circumference, which typically fits a 350 to 800 pound patient.
Quality, customer service, and value doesn't come cheap. Power cots are also expensive. Over 30x more expensive to be exact. But power cots have been proven to be a good investment time and time again because they are proven to reduce cot-related injuries. The Binder Lift helps prevent injuries where patient handling begins — lifting a slippery, wet, naked patient out of a bathtub. That means the Binder Lift has 30x the return on investment when compared to a power cot. The Binder Lift will be one of the least expensive pieces of capital equipment in the back of your ambulance.
All Binder Lift products are made in the USA with the highest quality workmanship and materials. We also stand by our products with unmatched customer service and 5 year warranty.
If you're worried about the price, first just try it through our risk-free 30-day trial. If you don't think it's worth the money after trying it, we'll pay for the return shipping for you to send it back.
Yes. The Binder Lift has been tested through a third-party ergonomic evaluation process and was found to significantly reduce shear forces on the lifter's spine when compared to the industry's most common lifting practices. Some of our customers have reported a 100% percent reduction in lifting-related injuries years after their purchase. There is a significant amount of science behind the ergonomics of a handle. Handles make lifting both safer and easier. Because humans don't come with handles, you need to bring your own. The Binder Lift brings the handles to patient handling.
Our defining characteristics are Quality, Customer Service, and most importantly — Proven Results. The Binder Lift is the only device that boasts 4 national awards for safety and innovation, and it's the only device on the market that is proven with electromyography (EMG) to reduce shear forces on the lifter's spine when compared to traditional methods of lifting. Here is a list of what we offer, that you won't get anywhere else:
- 5-year warranty that's firefighter proof — if it's damaged for any reason, we'll repair or replace it.
- Up to 32 handles to lift by — over 3x as many handles as any other device.
- Proven injury reduction — we have field testing data as well as lab data.
- Longstanding history of excellence — we have over 3,000 customers and not a single reported injury while using the Binder Lift. That's an estimated 1,000,000 patient lifts without injury.
- Patented torso wrap design that provides comfort and support for the patient.
- 4 National awards for safety and excellence from industry leaders such as, EMS World, Journal of Emergency Medical Services, and National EMS Safety Foundation.
- Made from 100% medical grade impervious material for quick and efficient decontamination after every use (Vinyl Model).

Both! As you likely already know, we no longer live in a "one size fits all" society. This is why we have two sizes, Standard and Bariatric. The Standard size typically fits patients ranging from 100 to 350 pounds (34" to 62" torso circumference). The Bariatric size typically fits patients ranging from 350 to 800 pounds (58" to 82" torso circumference). Both sizes are needed because it's your responsibility to provide care and sometimes lift assistance, to patients of all shapes and sizes. Whether you're lifting a 100-pound patient or an 800-pound patient, you deserve to have the equipment necessary to keep you safe. Lifting injuries do not discriminate. Data shows you're at elevated risk of injury anytime you're lifting more than 35 lbs. The Binder Lift helps to reduce this risk by attaching handles to the patient, large or small, so providers can harness their strength and use proper ergonomics.
Many of our metropolitan departments will put a Standard size on all of their front-line ambulances or apparatus, and strategically place the Bariatric size throughout the response area so backup can bring it if needed. Rural departments will typically place one of each size on every ambulance because backup isn't as readily available for a quick response if needed.
Absolutely. The Binder Lift's patented torso wrap design distributes the patient's weight across the entire surface area of the device. As a result, the patient doesn't feel significant pressure in their armpits or groin when being lifted. If you're using a sheet, transfer tarp, or other lifting device, it is likely that your patients are experiencing discomfort and instability when lifted. The Binder Lift is the only device on the market that has padding for patient comfort and a torso wrap design that helps support and control their mass.
Patients who've experienced the Binder Lift difference explain it best. "They used a new lift jacket [Binder Lift] to pick me up without hurting my back too much. I have had over 70 surgeries and they managed to pick me up without too much-added pain in less than 1 to 2 seconds! Would you please relay to them just how grateful I am? I'll write personally when able."

Yes. Because 80% of falls happen in the bathroom, we designed the Binder Lift with the bathroom in mind. If you're using a sheet, transfer tarp, or other lifting device, chances are you're forced to use bad lifting ergonomics when in a confined space, such as a bathroom. This is because it's impossible to use proper lifting ergonomics if there isn't a handle in a direct line between the lifter and the object (patient). That's why the Binder Lift has up to 32 handles — well over 3x the number of handles than any other lifting device on the market. With so many handles to choose from, you're guaranteed to have a handle in a direct line between you and the patient in any scenario.

The Binder Lift changes the game
The Binder Lift changes the game in terms of getting patients up from sitting or lying positions and awkward positions where they’ve fallen,” says Adam Kuhs, AEMT, Bell’s deputy director of operations. “The older you get, the more fragile you may be, so we want to get them up with a minimal risk of injury. The Binder Lift is great because it gives you extra leverage on the patient and different handles for different approaches to lifting.

The perfect tool for the task
The patient was slippery (diaphoretic) and of sturdy build, wearing only a nightgown — no pants for a belt-hoist, and had a bad rotator cuff so the usual armpit lift wouldn’t have worked. The BinderLift was the perfect tool for the task.

A useful product
I have had positive feedback from our people about your product. We have one patient in particular that we use this device on frequently. This patient is very large and falls all the time and unable to get up on her own. We put the device on and we are able get her up. We have had as many as four people around her to get her up. Since I was one of the people that used the Binder Lift device I thought it was pretty simple to use. I liked that we were able to get people around this patient and raise her up effectively. We have used this product with two, three, and four people, and it was great. Finally a useful product that actually works the way it is supposed to. I am recommending this product to our surrounding departments.

It easily pays for itself
We have been very pleased with our purchase of the Binder Lifts. We have used the extra-large version multiple times. It has worked just as advertised. We have been able to lift the very large folks with ease and safety for both the patient and the EMT's who are doing the lifting. While the Binder Lift is an expensive purchase, it easily pays for itself in preventing injury and subsequent claims by the providers and the safety it provides to the patient.

The lift was "easy"
300+ pound patient slipped out of their wheelchair during dialysis at a "no lift facility." Our crew responded and, after assessing needs, requested another unit be dispatched to assist with lifting. However, after the Binder Lift was applied and before the additional crew arrived, the first responding crew was able to lift the patient safely and cancel additional resources. I really appreciate the capability of the Binder Lift. With the lift as a resource, what was ordinarily a “two truck response” to lift a heavy patient from the floor can now, in many cases, be completed safely with a single unit. The crew failed at first attempt to lift the patient without the Binder Lift, but then the crew reports that after they applied the Binder, the lift was "easy."

Works well in hard-to-reach areas
It works well in those hard-to-reach areas that patients always seem to find themselves in. We utilized it in the bathroom where the patient was wedged in a tight area. Worked great! No back strain to our EMS. We also used it on a patient who was so weak from the flu that she could not bear any weight to her legs and we needed to move her from a tight area. The Binder Lift made it a breeze to move and position the patient!

Helps you to reduce injuries
I would totally recommend this product to any agency. As the fire service and EMS continue to grow and evolve, why wouldn’t you want a tool for your toolbox that not only benefits the patient but also helps you to reduce injuries?

Thanks for a great product
Your device is one of three on my crew’s most favorite list along with, Ferno Stair Chairs, and Stryker Power Pro Gurneys. They believe each of these device is adding years to their backs holding up. Thanks for a great product.

I love it!
I have had the opportunity to use your Binder Lift, and I love it! We also have been trying another product that I personally don’t like as much. I enjoyed the video, I do think it helps if the patient is assisted to a seated position prior to applying it, especially in those tight quarters, it really helps with strapping it on. Excited to use it again, it has really saved me and several squad members have been impressed!

Grateful
They used a new “lift” jacket to pick me up without hurting my back too much. I have had over 70 surgeries and they managed to pick me up without too much added pain in less than 1 to 2 seconds! Would you please relay to them just how grateful I am? I’ll write personally when able.

Patient Feedback
The device is perfect
I have received nothing but positive feedback from all the crews that have used this device. I have showed this to every other ambulance and fire company that I have come into contact with in the last month and a half, have told them to check out the website, and have told them all of our success stories with the device. I am sorry to say that I cannot give you any negative feedback at this time because I just haven’t been able to find anything that needs to be changed. The device is perfect the way it is. This is an amazing product and is without a doubt the best product that has come to this field in the patient lifting and moving category ever, and I believe that until they make something that does that for us it will stay the best product for doing this job.

Protecting the patient
We received the Binder Lift yesterday afternoon and placed it on the Rescue truck after a short in service with all personnel. About 8pm last night I received a text from one of our guys with a picture of the lift and the words "1st use." I called him and he explained that they responded to a call and found a young gentleman about 350 lbs who was unable to get up and had to be moved from a tight location to another area to get to the stretcher. He said they decided to try the Binder Lift and secured it to the patient and moved him with ease to the stretcher. He said without the Lift they would have had a hard time moving him and most likely would have placed him on a trap and would have to drag the patient on the floor. He said it paid for itself on the first night by making their job easier and protecting the patient. Thanks for the product and your customer service.
